Six CCU Players Named All-Sun Belt

NEW ORLEANS – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team had six players named to the All-Sun Belt Team, the Sun Belt Conference office announced today.
Yazeed Matthews was not only named to the first team, the senior was also named the Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Matthews may be the hottest player in the nation right now as he has scored in seven consecutive matches and has scored two goals in the last four matches.
Along the way, Matthews is tied for the Sun Belt lead in points (29) and in goals (13). He leads the conference in points per game (2.23), goals per game (1.00) and game-winning goals (4).
He is tied for seventh nationally in goals, 11th in total points and tied for 22nd in game-winning goals.
Joining Matthews on the first team is Tsiki Ntsabeleng. The junior was also named the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year. Ntsabeleng made an immediate impact on the pitch for CCU and finished the season with 16 points (five goals, six assists).
He finished third in the Sun Belt in points and third in points per game (1.14). He also led the conference in assists and was tied for first in assists per game (0.43).
Also named to the first team were Henrik Mueller, Kervin Kenton Fadel and Jeranimo Power. Fadel is a returning member of the first team receiving the honor in 2017 as well. Mueller and Power are first-time All-Sun Belt honorees.
Tyrone Mondi was named to the second team. After missing several games early in the season with an injury, the sophomore fought his way back onto the field and had an excellent return. He finished the season third on the team in points with seven, scoring two goals and having three assists.
CCU will be back in action at the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. The Championship is being played in Statesboro, Ga., and is hosted by Georgia Southern.
