SPARTANBURG – Sophomore Tre Brown had a career and team-high 24 points, but it was not enough as Coastal Carolina fell 82-71 at Wofford.
 
Brown's point total tied for game-high honors as Wofford's Cameron Jackson also finished with 24. Among his eight field goals, was a career-high five three-point field goals, connecting on all five he attempted. He did a good job of distributing the ball, finishing with a game-high five assists. 
 
Zac Cuthbertson had his consecutive double-double streak stopped, but did score 14 points and grabbed four rebounds. He also added an assist and blocked shot.
 
David Kralj came off the bench to score 10 poins and Josh Coleman, also caming off the bench, grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
 
The Chants shot 42.6 percent (23-54) compared to 42.4 percent (25-59) for Wofford.  CCU also shot 53 percent on its three's hitting 10-19. The Chants defense held the thee-point shooting Terriers to only 21 percent (6-28).
 
The difference of the game came on the boards, turnovers and free throws. The home-standing Terriers grabbed 34 rebounds compared to 29 for CCU and 13 of those were offensive which led to 13 second-chance points. CCU's 12 turnovers led to 12 points for Wofford and the Terriers hit 26-34 free throws (77%).
 
CCU scored 10 second-chance points on its eight offensive rebounds and scored nine points off Wofford's eight turnovers. CCU did shoot 75 percent at the free throw line, but only attempted 20, making 15.
 
Jackson's 24 points led four Terriers in double digits. Wofford's leading scorer Fletcher Magee finished with 18 points, but only hit five of his 14 field goal attempts and only hit three of his 11 three's.
 
Nathan Hoover scored 15 for Wofford, with 10 of those coming at the free throw line and Storm Murphy had 13.
 
The Terriers jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the opening minutes of the first half and carried that momentum on to a 35-21 halftime lead.
 
Jackson led the way with 12 points on five-of 10 shooting. Magee had nine points as Wofford shot 38 percent in the opening 20 minutes.
 
CCU got seven points from Tommy Burton as the Chants struggled shooting in the opening half. CCU shot 38 percent from the field and hit three of its eight three-point field goals.
 
The Chants committed 10 turnovers which Wofford was able to turn into 10 points.
 
The Chants will take some time off for finals this week and will jump back into action when they host North Carolina Central Sunday Dec. 16 at 2 p.m.
