MACON, Ga. - The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team suffered a pair of 5-0 losses to Florida Gulf Coast and #17 Stetson on Friday, the first day of the Mercer Beach Volleyball Tournament.

The 0-4 (0-2 ASUN) Chanticleers will look to get their first win of the season on Saturday as they take on FGCU and Stetson once again in a second pair of matches.

Coastal won three sets in its opening match against FGCU, but was unable to secure a point. The nationally ranked Hatters, however, won all five courts in straight sets.

FGCU's first and second pairs grabbed the match's first points in straight sets. On the third court, Aleksandra Djuric and Leah Hardeman won 21-13 in the second set after falling in the first, but were outlasted 15-11 in the third. The Chants' fourth pairing of Kyla Manning and Autumn Otto likewise claimed the second set, but could not finish off the match in the third. At No. 5, Kalin Eske and Aristea Tontai got off to a 21-19 start in the first set, but Kaitlan Krivdo and Alyna Ryan rallied in the second and third to take the point.

FGCU improved to 6-6 (1-0 ASUN) with the win in the day's opening match.

Coastal's pairings remained the same for the second match of the day against Stetson, though the Chants had little luck against the defending ASUN champions. The Hatters improved to 16-6 (2-0 ASUN) with their 5-0 win over Coastal.
