Charleston, S.C. - Coastal Carolina's women's golf team shot a three-under 573 (284-289) during today's first two rounds of the Charleston Invitational to end the day in first place.
CCU has three golfers ranked among the top six after the opening day of action, being the only team in the event to end the day under par.
Sisters Marie and Frantiska Lunackova are tied for fourth place after shooting two-under 142's. Marie came up with her score shooting 71's in both rounds, while Frantiska shot a 70 in the first round and an even-par 72 in the afternoon action.
Malene Krolboll Hansen is tied for sixth place after finishing the day with a one-under 143. She picked up her score shooting 72-71.
Sena Ersoy is tied for 20th after the first two rounds. She shot a 71-77 to finish the day with a four-over 148. Stephanie Henning is tied for 45th after shooting a nine-over 153 (78-75) in today's action.
The 573 finish in today's action is tied for the fifth-best 36-hole score in program history. The last time the Chants shot a 573 was at the M&F Bank Rebel Intercollegiate back in 2013.
The Chanticleers led the event after shooting a four-under 284 during the morning's first round.
Frantiska Lunackova shot a two-under 70 (34-36) and was tied for second place after the opening 18 holes.
CCU also got under-par first rounds from Marie Lunackova (36-35) and Ersoy (35-36), both finishing the first 18 holes at one-under.
Krolboll Hansen shot an even-par 72 (36-36) and Henning finished her opening round with a six-over 78 (38-40).
The opening round 284 is the third time this season the Chants have shot that score. The other two times were during the first and second rounds at the Florida State Match-up. The score is also tied for the fifth-best low-round score in program history.
Rounding out the top five along with CCU are 36th-ranked Campbell in second place after shooting a five-over 581. 46th-ranked East Carolina is in third shooting a 12-over 588.
Middle Tennessee is only one shot back of ECU in fourth place finishing the day with a 13-over 589. Memphis and North Florida are tied for fifth place after shooting 14-over 590's.
