Conway - Since the Coastal Carolina women's golf team won the Sun Belt title last week, they have been practicing to get ready for the NCAA Regional Championship, but did not know where the NCAA would send them until today.
The team gathered at Broadway Shucker's to have a Selection Show watch party and after waiting through two region announcements, the Chants saw their name come up in the Tallahassee Region.
It will be the seventh appearance for the women's program in the NCAA Regionals and it is the sixth time CCU will make an appearance under head coach Katie Quinney, with the last appearance coming in the 2015 East Region at Raleigh, N.C.
The Tallahassee Region will be played at the Don Veller Golf Club, a course the Chanticleers played on at the Florida State Match Up earlier this season. All CCU did was shoot a school-record nine-under 855 during their third place finish.
Alabama will be the top seed in the regional and the Chanticleers will enter the 18-field team as the 14th seed. Also joining the Crimson Tide and CCU in the regional will be two other South Carolina teams, Furman and College of Charleston. Arizona and Washington will make the cross-country trip to Florida.
Wake Forest will join fellow ACC members Clemson and host Florida State in the regional. The SEC will be well-represented as Vanderbilt, Georgia, Tennessee and Missouri will make their way to Tallahassee.
The other teams are UNLV, Kennesaw State, Denver and Albany.
The Region will be played May 7-9 with the top six teams from each Region making their way to Stillwater, Okla., for the NCAA Championship.
