JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team fell in a pair of matches Friday at Jacksonville's Dolphin Beach. The Chants opened the day with a 4-1 loss to North Florida, then fell to Jacksonville in a close 3-2 match.

Coastal remains winless on the season as it falls to 0-8, but will have an opportunity to pick up its first win on Saturday as it once again faces the Ospreys and Dolphins.

In the opening match of the day versus North Florida, Coastal's second pairing of Leah Hardeman and Aleksandra Djuric provided the first point of the season for the Chants. The duo won the first set in extras, 22-20, and finished off the win 21-17 in the second.

However, the point came after UNF had already clinched the match. The Ospreys won in straight sets on the fourth, fifth and first courts to take a 3-0 lead and the victory. Following Hardeman's and Djuric's point, UNF's third pairing won in straight sets to give the final 4-1 match score.

Jacksonville won the first point of the day's second match, as the Dolphins' fourth pairing bested Aristea Tontai and Kalin Eske. Coastal quickly tied the match with a straight-sets win on the fifth court by Autumn Otto and Sara Boothe.

The Chants then briefly took a 2-1 lead as Hardeman and Djuric picked up their second win of the day at No. 2. That was followed by a JU victory at No. 1 to tie the match for a second time, and set up the match-winning point on the third court.

Coastal's Tanner Gauthier and Kinga Windisch won the first set at No. 3, 21-19. They fell 13-21 in the second set to go into the only third set of the day. There, JU's duo of Savannah Siegrist and Shelby Babowicz prevailed 15-11 to give the Dolphins the victory.
