ATHENS, GA. – The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers picked up their first win of the season in the night cap of the Georgia Tournament on Saturday night by the score of 3-1, 25-16, 25-22, 24-26, 25-23. Anett Nemeth collected a career-high 25 kills while senior setter Sara Boothe dished out 49 assists.

CCU used their biggest run in set one of 7-1 as Kyla Manning led the Chants with two kills. Ani Bozdeva and Nemeth also collected one kill each in that same run but it was Nemeth that was the biggest offensive weapon in the period as she had seven kills with a hitting percentage of .774.

Much of set two was back and forth.  At one point Coastal had their largest margin of four points, 13-9, but Furman was able to rally over the next 18 points as they used an 11-7 run that included, three CCU service errors. The defense of Nemeth and Sydney Alvis helped Coastal retake the lead late in the set and go on to win 25-22. Nemeth recorded six digs and Alvis picked up seven.

With the scored tied at 20 in set three, the Paladins went on a 6-4 run to end of the set with a win, 26-24. Furman players Jamilia Johnson and Neci Harris had two kills during that run and each tallied four in the set.

The Chanticleers were able finish off the match in set four by winning, 25-23.  Coastal was able to jump out to a 9-5 lead as the Paladins had five errors. Sophomore opposite, Kaylah House also helped CCU open up the early lead in the run with two kills.  House had four of her seven kills on the evening in this final set

Senior libero Sydney Alvis recorded 21 digs for the first time this season. A season ago, the Maidans, Virginia native accomplished that feat five times. Also, collecting double-digs for the Chants were Nemeth (14) and Boothe (11). House also had a team-high four  blocks.
