Conway, S.C. – Since South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster issued a state of emergency and a mandatory evacuation of the South Carolina coast last week, a number of Coastal Carolina's fall sports teams have been living, practicing and traveling across the nation to help prepare and compete in its current 2018 season.
With the number one priority being the safely of the students and staff, the Coastal Carolina University campus remains closed until further notice.
Football
The Chants left campus on Tuesday, Sept. 11, and headed to North Carolina where they played a midweek contest versus the Campbell Fighting Camels on Wednesday afternoon in Buies Creek, N.C. After recording a 58-21 road win, the staff and team headed south to Jacksonville, Fla. where they have been staying and practicing since Thursday, Sept. 13.

Men's Soccer
The men's soccer team had both of its two home matches cancelled last week, but found time to get some work in down in Orlando, Fla. The team was able to use this time for a five-day team retreat at the home of the Orlando City Soccer Club. The Chants will now make their way up to Williamsburg, Va. for a road match at William & Mary on Friday, Sept. 21.
Women's Soccer
CCU's women's soccer team was able to get one of its two matches in last week, as the Chants defeated Little Rock 2-1 on Friday, Sept. 14, on the campus of Kennesaw State in Kennesaw, Ga. The Chanticleers will venture from Georgia to Alabama this week, as they will continue Sun Belt Conference play this weekend at South Alabama (Sept. 21) and at Troy (Sept. 23).
Volleyball
The Coastal Carolina Classic set for Sept. 13-15 in Conway, S.C. was cancelled and thus the volleyball team worked tirelessly to evacuate to Dallas, Texas, Miami, Fla., or Pittsburgh, Pa., to stay together and perhaps play a few matches. However, all flight and charter bus options were exhausted not making that an option. Therefore, most of the team returned home and will stay there for the duration of the evacuation. The international student-athletes split up between northern Virginia and Atlanta, and are safe as well, since going home to Europe wasn't feasible for them.
Women's Golf
Coastal Carolina women's golf team will tee off its 2018 fall season as originally planned at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships this week on Sept. 17-18 in Knoxville, Tenn. The team took off last week due to the mandatory evacuation and traveled through South Carolina and Georgia on its way to Tennessee. The team even got in a few practice rounds on the trip to prepare for its 2018 fall season opener.
Men's Golf
The Chant men's golf team remained on the road all of last week before taking fifth-place overall at the 2018 Northern Intercollegiate in Sugar Grove, Ill. this past weekend. The team traveled from Minnesota to Illinois last week in between tournaments since they were unable to get back to Conway.
