Game Notes
CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina University men's soccer team will begin play in the Sun Belt Conference at Central Arkansas Friday, Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m. (ET).
The game will be the first time the two teams have met on the pitch while the 2019 season is UCA's first as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.
UCA (5-5-1 / 0-1-0 SBC) made the move into the SBC after playing in the Missouri Valley Conference where they were the two-time defending champions, and played in both the 2017 and 2018 NCAA Men's Soccer National Tournament.
The Bears are led by Niklas Brodacki who has scored six goals and an assist for a team-high 13 points. Kaasper Anderson and Soren Jensen have scored seven points each with Kyosuke Kubota and Edoardo Calzola scoring six points for the high-scoring Bears.
The Chants (4-5-1 / 0-0-0 SBC) enter the match looking to right the ship and get back into the win column. After being ranked as high as eighth in the nation in one poll, CCU has been unlucky on the pitch. Missed penalty kicks and missed shots on open goals have hurt CCU's chances as they enter the game having dropped three consecutive 1-0 games.
Sam Snaith continues to lead the Chants in scoring with eight points on four goals.
Tyrone Mondi and
Claudio Repetto have scored five points each while
Tsiki Ntsabeleng has added three.
The game at Central Arkansas is the first of four consecutive road games the Chants will play which are also the final four regular season road games of the season for CCU.
Before the Chants return home for its final three games of the regular season, they will also play at UNC Wilmington (Oct. 15), Appalachian State (Oct. 19) and at the College of Charleston (Oct. 23).
