GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina Chanticleer cross country teams were in action on Friday afternoon at the ECU Invitational. Nadeel Wildschutt and Adriaan Wildschutt led the Chants as they took the top two spots in the men's 8k race.

The Chanticleer men had seven of their 11 runners earn personal-best times in the afternoon as they earned a fourth-place finish out of 16 teams and averaged a time of 24:55.44.
Nadeel earned his ninth career victory as he paced the course with a personal-best time of 23:21.64.
Just roughly three seconds behind him in second-place with a time of 23:24.22 was his brother, Adriaan, who earned a personal-best result.
Junior Andrew Southard was the third Chanticleer finisher on the day in the 27th position. The Ajax, Ontario native also earned a personal-best time of 25:28.33.
Finishing with a personal-best time of 26:01.21 was Doug Mullen in 45th-place.
Junior Andrew Avery broke his personal-best time by four seconds (26:22.90) good for 51st-place.
Michael Pieterse crossed the finish line for Coastal in 63rd-place with a time of 26:51.10.
Rounding out the Chants scoring was a pair of freshmen, Dustin Chambers (65th – 26:57.44), who earned a personal best time and Robbie Gunia (66th – 27:00.33).
Also running on the 8k course for CCU was Heath Olivieri (27:09.38), who notched a new career-best mark, Jerardo Perez (28:50.31), and Monroe Thompkins (30:14.58).

The Chanticleer women finished in 10th-place finish out of 15 teams and as they averaged a time of 24:03.95 on the 6k course.
Lisha van Onselen was the leading harrier for the women as she finished inside the top 20 with a 16th-place finish. The Amanzimtoti, South Africa native finished the day with a time of 22:02.64.
Freshman Ashley Rulison finished the course with a time of 23:39.31 for 56th-place.
Freshman Grace Cole finished in 64th-place and with a time of 24:13.00.
Senior Alexis Carpenter finished five spots behind her teammate Cole, as she crossed the finish line with a mark of 24:39.30.
Rounding out the Chants scoring was Isabel Debari (77th – 25:45.50), Kelsey Luther (83rd - 27:24.25), Alyssa Lynch (84th - 28:12.20) and Kerry O'Connor (28:12.82).
Both the men and women will return to action on Nov. 2 as they compete at the 2019 Sun Belt Cross Country Championships at Georgia State's Nash Farm Park Battlefield.
