Game Notes
CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer program will hit the road for the final time during the regular season when they travel to Charleston to face the College of Charleston Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.
The series between the two programs started back in 1978, CCU's first season to field a men's soccer program. Since that first outing, a 9-0 win by the Cougars, the two teams have met 33 times, the fourth-longest series for CCU. It only trails Winthrop (48), Radford (39) and UNC Asheville (37).
CCU owns a 20-9-4 lead in the series and has won the last five times the two teams have met on the pitch. The teams did not face each other last season, but in 2017 the Chants won an overtime thriller 2-1 in Conway.
Coastal has a 6-3-2 lead in the series at home and also has a winning record when playing at Charleston at 9-6-2. CCU has also won the only two meetings on a neutral field.
The Chanticleers are coming off a successful week which saw them play to a scoreless overtime draw at UNC Wilmington and then win their first conference game of the season with a 4-2 road win over the Sun Belt leader Appalachian State.
Based on their performances last week
Tsiki Ntsabeleng and
Alberto Ciroi picked up weekly Sun Belt Conference honors as Ntsabeleng was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week and Ciroi was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
The road game for the Chants is their final regular season road game of the year with the final three regular season games coming at home at the CCU Soccer Stadium. Links for live stats for tomorrow's game can be found at GoCCUsports.com.
