Men's Soccer Starts Final Home Stand with Georgia State

Game Notes

CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer has finished all its regular season road games and will make its final push to another Sun Belt Conference title with three consecutive home games to end the regular season.

The first of those games will be against reigning Sun Belt Conference Champions Georgia State. The Panthers will invade the CCU Soccer Stadium Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m.

The two teams will meet on the pitch for the 15th time in the series with the Chanticleers holding a 10-4 lead in the series.

After Coastal won nine consecutive games, the Panthers broke through last year and beat CCU 4-3 on its home field in Atlanta, and turned around and beat the Chants 2-1 in a hotly-contested Sun Belt Tournament semifinal game.

While the Panthers enter tomorrow's action with a 7-3-3 overall record, they are still looking for their first conference win after dropping their first two conference matches.

CCU enters the game on an upswing, with consecutive road wins including a conference win over Appalachian State 4-2, giving the league-leading Mountaineers their first conference loss of the season.

The Chants continue to get a strong performance in goal from senior Alberto Ciroi, who was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week. Ciroi now has three shutouts this season and has won the defensive honor twice.

He was not alone in receiving weekly honors as Tsiki Ntsabeleng was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week. He scored two goals and had an assist last week in picking up the honor.
