Beasley-Polko Picks Up Two Wins On Day Two The Battle at the Beach

Game Times Moved Back On Sunday

CONWAY - Kaitlin Beasley-Polko was the workhorse of the pitching staff on Saturday afternoon as the sophomore picked up two wins, going 10.1 innings to help the Coastal Carolina Chanticleer softball team to improve to 9-1 on the season.

Towson

With freshman Sydney Guess on base, sophomore Taylor Sweigart hit 1-0 pitch over the right field fence for her first home run of the season to break the 3-3 tie to defeat the Towson Tigers in nine by the score of 5-3.

Beasley-Polko earned her fifth win as she pitched the last 4.1 innings in relief. The Leonardtown, Md. native allowed two hits and one run.

The Chanticleers had three homers in the game as sophomore Courtney Dean hit her third, freshman Abbey Montoya hit her first of the season, and the aforementioned Sweigart home run. 

Madison Wilson and Nicole Stockinger had a homer apiece for the Tigers.

Towson's Sara Johnson pitched 8.1 as she took the loss, dropping to 1-1 on the season.

Presbyterian

Coastal Carolina defeated the Blue Hose in six innings by the score of  9-1 in game two of the day for their ninth consecutive win.

Beasley-Polko picked up her second win of the day in game two as she pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts.

After a Chelsea D'Avilar lead-off walk, Adrienne Visintine got the Chanticleers on the board in the bottom of the second inning with her third homer of the season off.

Coastal loaded the bases in the bottom of the third and D'Avilar picked up and RBI off a sacrifice fly to right field to extend the lead to 3-0.

The Chants added two runs in the bottom of the fourth and picked up four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game as it was highlighted by Courtney Dean's team
leading fourth home run of the season.

Times have been moved back for day three of the Battle at the Beach as Towson and Marshall will play at 10:30 a.m.,  Presbyterian will take on Towson at 12:30 p.m. and CCU will host Eastern Kentucky in the last game of the day at 2:30 p.m.
