Chants Pick Up 10th Win Versus Pitt; Have 10 Game Win Streak Snapped Versus UCF

ORLANDO, FLA. -  On Saturday, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers split their two games on Saturday as they extended their win streak after the game one win versus the Pitt Panthers, but eventually snapping their ten game winning streak to the UCF Knights to fall to 10-2 on the season.

The Chanticleers got on the board first as Taylor Sweigart picked up her eighth run batted of the season as she gave Coastal the 1-0 lead in the top of the third with a single up the middle to score Courtney Dean from second base.

Coastal broke open the game in the top of the fourth as Stavi Augur led off the inning with a triple into left center field. Two batters later Sam Sack was able to pick up her second RBI of the season on a fielder's choice. Alexis Alvino kept the rally going as the senior shortstop picked her first RBI of the season as she took Brittany Knight's offering off the fence in left center field.  Junior Kassidy Smith tacked on one more run to extend the lead to 4-0 with a sacrifice fly to right.  

Coastal added another run in the seventh and that's all the runs that Chants would need.

Sophomore starter Kaitlin Beasley-Polko pitched 5.2 innings of shutout softball to pick up her sixth win of the season, lowering her earned run average to .85 on the season.

Beasley-Polko handed the ball off to Ashley Guillette in the sixth inning as senior came in for the final 1.1 innings of relief to hold the Panthers scoreless.

UCF

In game two, UCF scored the only run of the game as Denali Schappacher led off with a walk in the bottom of the first and then came around to score on a Jazzmine Esparza single to right field.

Knights pitcher Alea White, picked up the win going all seven, giving up no hits, no runs, and striking out 12.

Chanticleers starter, Ashley Guillette took the loss, her first of the season, going six, and striking out seven.  While taking the loss, Guillette lowered her to .76.

Coastal Carolina will return to action on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. against Penn State, followed up by the rematch to Pitt at 12:30 p.m.
