CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team notched consecutive 5-0 sweeps of Tusculum Friday afternoon as the Chanticleers hosted the Pioneers for a doubleheader at the CCU Beach Volleyball Complex.
 
Coastal has now recorded its first double-digit win season in program history as the Chants improve their season record to 10-5.
 
Coastal kept its lineup the same for both matches, and four of the five pairings turned in straight-sets wins in both of their outings.
 
Sydney Alvis and Leah Hardeman, playing at No. 1, lost their first set of the day, but rallied to win their first match in three sets. The duo closed the day with a 21-16, 21-18 sweep.
 
Lucy Campbell and Anaiah Boyer ran away with a 21-9, 21-8 win in their first match, and Coastal's 2's tallied another sweep in the second match, 21-13, 21-11.
 
On the third court, Shelby Ladewig and Aleksandra Djuric turned in wins of 21-16, 21-12 and 21-9, 21-15.
 
Coastal's 4's were likewise dominant, nearly keeping their opponents in single digits all day. Kate Federico and Tanner Gauthier won 21-19, 21-4 in the first match, and 21-9, 21-6 in the second.
 
While the 4's came close, the 5's were able to keep their opposition to single digits throughout the afternoon. A 21-8, 21-6 win by Anett Nemeth and Kalin Eske in the first match was followed by a 21-9, 21-8 win in the second.
 
On the sixth court, Haylie Beck and Ani Bozdeva won both of their matches in straight sets.
 
Coastal now travels to Wilmington, N.C., to take part in the UNCW Dig & Dive Beach Classic this weekend. The Chants take on FGCU and College of Charleston on Saturday, and Carson Newman and UNCW on Sunday.
