MOBILE, Ala. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team suffered its first Sun Belt Conference loss of the season Sunday afternoon, falling 4-1 to South Alabama at the Jaguars Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
Coastal drops to 11-6, 1-1 with the loss.
South Alabama captured the doubles point with wins of 6-3 at No. 2 and 6-4 at No. 1.
Maxime Lapraille made it a 2-0 lead for USA after winning the first singles point at No. 4. Loic Cloes stretched that lead to 3-0 with a straight-sets win at No. 2.
Gonzalo Achondo provided Coastal's first and only point of the match, defeating Louis Delcour, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 5.
Sam Serrano delivered the match-clincher for USA at No. 3.
Coastal returns home next weekend to host a pair of matches against UTA (Friday) and Louisiana (Sunday) at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
