DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team defeated UNC Greensboro, 5-2, Saturday afternoon in a neutral-site match played during the team's spring break trip in Florida.
 
The Chants' fourth straight win improves their season record to 8-3.
 
UNCG won the match's doubles point but the Chants rallied to pull out the win in singles.
 
UNCG's third pairing of Hugh Knapp and Jack Burkill won 6-3 before Coastal evened the doubles point with a 6-4 win by Zak Talic and Joel Popov at No. 2. The Spartans narrowly edged the Chants in doubles as Ollie Palmer and Nico Grewe defeated Lawrence Perrin and Luiz Faria at No. 1, 7-5.
 
Faria claimed the first singles point at No. 1 to tie the match at 1-1. Popov followed with a straight-sets win at No. 2 to give Coastal a 2-1 lead.
 
The match was tied once again after Roger Rogowski gave UNCG its lone singles point on the fourth court.
 
Gonzalo Achondo gave Coastal the lead for good with a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 3, and Pyry Hyrkkonen provided the match-winner at No. 5, 6-4, 7-6.
 
Juan Castellanos gave Coastal its final point on the sixth court.
 
The Chants remain in Daytona Beach until Monday when they play at Embry-Riddle at 10:30 a.m.
