DURHAM, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's soccer match with Duke was called early in the second half due to bad weather that moved into the Durham area.
The Blue Devils held a 4-1 lead with over 38 minutes left in the match. Duke had built a 4-0 lead at halftime. The home-standing Blue Devils scored in the 26
th minute to take a 1-0 lead, but over the next 14 minutes neither team could find the net.
That changed in a quick fashion as the 10
th-ranked Blue Devils scored three goals in less than three minutes heading into the locker room.
Tyrone Mondi got the Chants on the scoreboard with his second goal of the exhibition season in the 51
st minute. The match only lasted another five minutes before the weather caused a suspension in play which led to a cancellation of the final minutes.
With the end of the game came the end of the exhibition season. The Chants will begin the regular season Aug. 30 in Corvallis, Ore., against number 22 Oregon State.
