CONWAY – After playing four games away from the friendly confines of the CCU Soccer Stadium, Coastal Carolina's men's soccer team is set to host Radford in its second of three consecutive home games.
The Chants and Highlanders will meet for the 40
th time Saturday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. CCU holds a 21-14-4 lead in the series that dates back to 1986.
The game will also present an opportunity for head coach
Shaun Docking to pick up his 300
th career win as a collegiate head coach. Docking has been a college head coach for 24 years with 22 of those at Coastal. He entered the season with 296 career wins, 21
st on the active coaches list and with the Chants three wins he only needs one more to reach the milestone.
Docking spent two years as head coach at Charleston Southern (1996, 1997) where he won 20 matches and led CSU to the NCAA Tournament his final year in 1997.
Following the season he moved to Coastal Carolina where he has guided the Chanticleers for the past 21 years amassing 276 wins heading into 2019. He will enter the game with a 299-146-7 overall record.
CCU is coming off a thrilling 1-0 win over Campbell, a game which saw neither team find the back of the net until
Tsiki Ntsabeleng scored with two seconds left in regulation to give the Chants the win. It was Ntsabeleng's first action of the season after missing the first four games due to injuries.
The Chants continue to be ranked in College Soccer News, who has CCU ranked 27
th. The United Soccer Coaches and TopDrawer Soccer polls have CCU listed among the others receiving votes.
With the win over Campbell, the Chants will enter Saturday night's contest with a 3-2 record, which has been aided by excellent work in the goal from senior
Alberto Ciroi. The Martignacco, Italy native is second in the conference with 15 saves and his .824 save percentage is tops in the conference. He also has two shutouts on the season which is tied for the most in early season action.
Radford, a former Big South rival, enters the contest with a 1-3-2 record and is 0-2-2 in their past four games. They enter Saturday's contest coming off a hard-fought 1-0 loss at fifth-ranked Virginia.
The Highlanders have scored seven goals on the season and Amadou Macky Diop has four of those. Pape Oumar Gueye leads the team with three assists.
