CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team will return to the pitch for another road game against a nationally-ranked opponent as the Chanticleers travel to Lexington, Ky., to face eighth-ranked Kentucky on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET from the Bell Soccer Complex and can be watched live on ESPN+.
CCU (4-2-1) enters the game coming off a tough 1-1 double-overtime draw with Virginia Commonwealth. The Chants are a little healthier as preseason Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year
Tsiki Ntsabeleng made his first start of the season and
Morten Timm, who missed two matches, was able to get back on the field in the second half where he played 18 minutes.
Kentucky is ranked as high as eighth in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll and has won its past two matches to enter the game with a 4-1-2 mark. Kentucky and CCU have a mutual opponent this season as both teams have faced Charlotte, a nationally-ranked team. Both games were in Charlotte and both went into double overtime with Kentucky playing Charlotte to a 1-1 draw and CCU losing 2-1.
Freshman
Sam Snaith has scored four goals in the Chants past two games and leads the team with eight points on the year. He has also moved up to fourth in the conference in scoring.
DZ Harmon is tied for first in the Sun Belt with three assists and
Alberto Ciroi is tied for first in the Sun Belt with two shutouts.
Kentucky has a well-rounded scoring team with Kalil ElMedkhar and Daniel Evans leading the team with three goals each. ElMedkhar has a team-high nine points and Evans has eight. Jason Reyes and Aime Makika have each scored two goals.
Enrique Facusse has been in goal for each match this season for the Wildcats and has three shutouts to his credit with 19 saves, a 1.07 goals against average and a .704 save percentage.
