NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina goalkeeper Alberto Ciroi has been named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The honor was released today by the Sun Belt Conference after a vote of the conference's coaches.
 
Ciroi made his first appearance in a CCU uniform this week and had to do it against the 22^nd-ranked team in the nation in Oregon State and 20^th-ranked Portland Pilots.
 
All he did in his first outings was to help the Chants to a west coast sweep while only allowing one goal and picking up 10 saves. He also had his first shutout as a Chanticleer in CCU's 1-0 win at Portland on Sept. 1 and played all 180 minutes in goal during each of the first two matches.
 
Right now the Chants are scheduled to play at 21^st-ranked Charlotte Friday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. Check back with goccusports.com for any updates and changes to the Chants schedule due to Hurricane Dorian.
