Match Notes
CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina University men's soccer team will put its new national ranking (12/17) on the line when they travel to Charlotte to face another toop-25 ranked team in the 49ers (17/21).
The match is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6 at Transamerica Field at 7 p.m.
The match is the third consecutive road match to start the season for CCU and has been made a bit more difficult due to Hurricane Dorian. Once the Chants returned from their west coast trip, they loaded a bus to evacuate Conway due to the CCU campus being closed.
It is also the third consecutive ranked team the Chants have started the season with. In the latest poll, a total of six CCU opponents were ranked among the top-25 teams in the nation and two others were receiving votes.
The Chants made their big jump in the polls by pulling off road wins at #22 Oregon State (2-1) and at #20 Portland (1-0). CCU goalkeeper
Alberto Ciroi was named the Sun Belt's Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts, as he only allowed one goal and totaled 10 saves in the two matches, while picking up his first shutout in a CCU uniform with the win over Portland.
With Hurricane Dorian moving up the eastern coast, there is always a possibility the game could change. Please check goccusports.com for any changes on the scheduled match.
