CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's basketball team will host Greensboro College Saturday, December 12 at 6 p.m. ET.
It will be the third meeting between the two programs with the Chanticleers winning each of the previous two games, including last season's 114-79 victory.
CCU (3-0) is looking for its' fourth consecutive win to start the season, which would be the best start to a season since winning five consecutive games to open the 2011-12 season.
The Chants are coming off a hard-fought 78-71 win over North Carolina Central, a game which saw CCU trailing 71-70 with exactly one minute left in the game. That's win Mr. Everything
DeVante' Jones took over. He hit six consecutive free throws, had a big defensive rebound, and added a steal with the assist on the breakaway basket to have a hand in the final eight points of the game.
Deanthony Tipler comes off the bench for the Chants, and is the team's leading scorer averaging 19.7 points per game. CCU has four players in double digits as
Essam Mostafa is averaging 17.7,
Tyrik Dixon at 15.7, and Jones with 15.3.
Greensboro enters the game 1-3, but don't let the record fool you. The Pride have been in several close games and went into NCAA Division I member Longwood for an exhibition game, and left with a 67-64 victory. They won their last outing, 67-62 over Piedmont College.
Greyson Collins is a high-scoring junior for Greensboro, who is averaging 18.7 points per game. He is a 48 percent shooter form the field and is hitting over 35 percent of his three-point attempts.
Matthew Brown also averages in double figures for Greensboro. One of the taller players on the team at 6'-7", he is averaging 14.3 points per game and a team-leading 5.7 rebounds per outing.
