CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina began preparations for the 2025-26 season on Monday as it held its first official practice inside the HTC Center.
The NCAA allows teams to practice for a total of 30 times, starting 42 days before their first game. The Chants will open the season at Western Michigan on November 3 as part of the SBC-MAC Challenge.
Head coach
Justin Gray, who is in his second season at the helm of the program, brought in seven transfers and two freshmen to join six returners.
"We've been working out all summer preparing, but now we're able to go a little longer and put a little bit more in," Gray said. "We're also able to apply some more pressure to see how much adversity we can create and see how we respond.
"It's a long season and right now we're learning to fall in love with the process of getting better every day."
Redshirt junior
Rasheed Jones leads the group of returning players after averaging 11.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game a year ago. He was the team's second-leading three-point shooter at 34.0 percent (66-for-194).
Redshirt sophomore
Braeden MacVicar returns after sitting out the 2024-25 season. He played in 26 games as a freshman in 2023-24, averaging 6.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 19.8 minutes per contest.
Charles Dunlap,
Jackson Keil,
Connor Martin, and
Andre Mulibea also return.
Gray added four graduate transfers to the roster:
Joshua Beadle (Clemson/Boston College),
Reggie Hill (Midwestern State),
Jerry Ngopot (ULM), and
Nadjrick Peat (Hawaii-Hilo).
DaJohn Craig (Oregon State) and
AJ Dancler (LeMoyne) transferred in with multiple years of eligibility remaining, as did junior college transfer
Derrick Green (Brunswick Community). The incoming freshmen are
Devin Brown (Milwaukee, Wis.) and
Tristan Thompson (Florence, S.C.).
CCU will host 13 games at the HTC Center, beginning November 7 against Virginia University of Lynchburg.
