Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team has its two-game winning streak snapped
Columbia, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team fell 6-1 to South Carolina on Sunday afternoon in Columbia, S.C. With the loss, the Chanticleers dropped to 2-3 on the season while the Gamecocks improved to 4-4 on the year with the win.
The Chants fell behind early in the match as USC picked up the doubles point with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 3 with the Gamecocks holding the advantage in the unfinished match on court No. 2.
In singles action, South Carolina picked up victories on courts No. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in straight sets to clinch the match win for the host team.
CCU's Jessie Mount dropped USC's Kendall Couch 7-6, 6-2 on court No. 6 for the lone point for Coastal, while Flamina Scara battled her opponent Kennedy Wicker to three sets before falling 7-5, 2-6, 8-10 at the No. 3 spot.
Coastal Carolina will return to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 29, as the Chants will host in-state foe Wofford at the Lynn Stevens Tennis Complex. The first serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET.
