Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team to host St. John’s for the second time in program history on Sunday

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team defeated in-state foe Wofford 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Lynn Stevens Tennis Complex on the campus of Coastal Carolina University. With the win, the Chants evened their overall record at 3-3 while the Terriers fell to 6-2 on the year.

Coastal won the doubles point as the team of Jessie Mount and Somer Dalla-Bona won 6-3 over Wofford's duo of Jenna Vroman and Liz Massie on court No. 1 while the No. 3 tandem of Flaminia Scara and Alexia Tiefel clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 win over Georgia Fischer and Brittney Wilber.

In singles action, the Chanticleers closed out the match win by picking up victories on courts No. 6, No. 3, and No. 4 for the win.

Maria Khomchenko recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win over the Terriers Ansley Hardeman to put CCU up 2-0 in the match.

Scara earned her second victory and first singles win of the day with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Massie of Wofford.

Freshman Valentina Urelli clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Lilie Steryous.

Coastal Carolina will return to action as the Chants will host St. John's on Sunday at the Lynn Stevens Tennis Complex. First serve is scheduled for noon ET.
