BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team continued its winning ways on Friday, as the Sandy Chants swept through Eastern Kentucky and Nicholls State with back-to-back 5-0 shutout wins on day one of the Blazer Beach Bash in Birmingham, Ala.

Match 1: Coastal Carolina 5, Eastern Kentucky 0

In their first road match of the season, the Chanticleers jumped out to an early 1-0 match lead over Eastern Kentucky with a 21-11, 21-10 dominating win by the duo of Kaitlyn Holbrook and Madison Allred at the No. 5 flight.

The Chants added to its lead with a 21-19, 21-15 win from Kyla Manning and Carli Ginther at the No. 4 spot, before the freshmen team of Irena Drobnjak and Sarlota Svobodova cruised to a 21-7, 21-6 win at No. 2.

Up 3-0, the tandem of Sydney Alvis and Viktoria Fink earned a 21-8, 21-11 win at the No. 1 flight to keep the shutout intact.

At the No. 3 flight, Martine Kragholm and Lucy Campbell battled back from a 17-21 first set loss to take set two 21-10 and then set three 15-4 to put the final score at 5-0 in favor of the Chants.

Match 2: Coastal Carolina 5, Nicholls State 0

The Chants carried over their strong play into their second match of the day versus Nicholls State, winning all flights in straight sets.

The team of Holbrook and Allred defeated Meghan Wozniak and Lilly Bivens 21-9, 21-13 at the No. 5 flight, while Alvis and Fink breezed to a 21-13, 21-12 win at No. 1 to put the Chants on top early at 2-0.

The duo of Manning and Ginther continued their winning ways by holding off Katie Jones and Jaida Felix for a 21-16, 21-17 match win at No. 4 to seal the match win for the women in black and teal.

Kragholm and Campbell added a win at the No. 3 spot with a 21-13, 21-15 victory, while the pair of Drobnjak and Svobodova completed the shutout win with a 21-10, 21-12 win at No. 2

CCU (5-1), who has won three matches in a row, will return to action at the Blazer Beach Bash tomorrow to take on ULM at 11:30 a.m. ET and host UAB at 2:30 p.m. ET.
