Chanticleers to Host Blue Raiders in Three-Game Weekend Series

Coastal Carolina baseball and MTSU will meet for the first time this weekend

Conway, S.C. – The Chanticleers will welcome Middle Tennessee to Vrooman Field at Springs Brooks Stadium for a three-game weekend series on March 6-8.
 
Friday's game will now start at 4 p.m. ET. Saturday's tilt is set for a 2 p.m. ET first pitch, while Sunday's contest will begin at 1 p.m. ET.
 
On Saturday, kids 12 and under get in for free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Kids can also run the bases after the contest.
 
ABOUT THE CHANTS
• Coastal Carolina is 8-4 this season, including going 8-3 at home at Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.
• The Chanticleers, who had won six-straight games heading into play this week, are coming off a 24-7 loss at No. 7 NC State.
• This weekend is the final three-game non-conference weekend series for the Chants, as CCU will open up Sun Belt Conference play next weekend at Louisiana on March 13-15.
 
ABOUT THE BLUE RAIDERS
• The Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders are 4-8 this season with all four wins coming at home.
• The Blue Raiders are 0-7 on the road this season with losses at North Carolina, at Alabama, and at Tulane.
• MTSU has gone just 1-4 over its last five games but is coming off a 7-6 walk-off home win over Lipscomb on Tuesday, March 3.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY
• The two teams have never met on the baseball diamond.
 
FIRST-TIME FOES IN 2020
• Middle Tennessee is one of four first-time opponents for the Chanticleers this season.
• Coastal also played San Diego State (Feb. 15), Saint Joseph's (Feb. 21), and Kennesaw State (Feb. 23) for the first time this season, going 1-2 over those three games with the lone win coming over the KSU Owls.
 
CCU VS. C-USA THIS SEASON
• Coastal Carolina played a fellow Conference USA member in the Charlotte 49ers earlier this week, defeating the 49ers by a score of 15-6 on Tuesday, March 3.

• Coastal Carolina versus the current members of C-USA:
   * vs. Florida Atlantic: 1-0 (last meeting: 2013)

NON-CONFERENCE SERIES SUCCESS
• This weekend marks the second non-conference three-game weekend series for the Chants this season.
• Last weekend, Coastal swept Maryland in three games by scores of 16-0 (Friday), 10-3 (Saturday), and 3-2 (Sunday).
• CCU only plays two non-conference three-game weekend series this season due to tournament play over the first two weekends, and Sun Belt Conference play starting next weekend at Louisiana on March 6-8.
 
HOME SWEET HOME
• Coastal is 8-3 at home inside Springs Brooks Stadium this season.
• The Chanticleers' first 11 home games of the season all came at home in Conway, S.C.
• The Chants' originally scheduled two road games - at UNCW on Feb. 18 and at College of Charleston on Feb. 26 - were impacted by the weather and moved to Springs Brooks Stadium or postponed to a later date.
 
ON THE WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY AT #7 NC STATE
• In Coastal Carolina's 24-7 loss at #7 NC State on March 4, the Chanticleers were on the wrong end of history.
• The 24 runs allowed by the Chants are the most runs allowed in a single game in program history.
• The 24 earned runs allowed by the Chants are also the most earned runs allowed in a single game in program history.
• NC State's nine doubles are the most allowed by the Chants in a single game in program history.
 
ON THE HORIZON
• The Chanticleers will wrap up the four-game home-stand versus Wake Forest on Wednesday, March 11, at 6 p.m. ET.
