Four Chants Named to 2010-19 Big South Softball All-Decade Team

Big South Conference announced its 2010s All-Decade Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University softball program had four former student-athletes in Kiana Quolas, Bri Chiusano, Kory Hayden, and Morgan Noad named to the Big South Conference's 2010-19 Softball All-Decade Team presented by Hercules Tires, the league office announced on Wednesday.

The league's All-Decade Teams were first unveiled as part of the Big South's 30th Anniversary celebration in 2013-14 to recognize the student-athletes and coaches who excelled in their respective sport in each decade since the conference's founding in 1983.

Quolas was a two-time Big South Pitcher of the Year, earning the honor in back-to-back seasons in 2013 and 2014. She was a four-time All-Big South selection, garnering first team honors in 2012, 2013, and 2014, and second team accolades in 2015 at the pitcher spot. A two-time Big South All-Tournament pick (2012 and 2014), Quolas was chosen as the Big South Pitcher of the Week 17 times over her four-year career at CCU and was a three-time member of the Big South All-Academic team.

The Chant ace ranks third in the Big South in wins (91), fourth in complete games (101), sixth in games started (124), sixth in shutouts pitched (28), seventh in innings pitched (812.1), and 10th in strikeouts (590). Her winning percentage of .844 in 2014, in which she went 27-5 overall on the season, remains the best winning percentage in Big South single-season history.

Chiusano was a three-time All-Big South first team pick, receiving the all-conference honor as an outfielder in 2014, 2015, and 2016, after earning a spot on the 2013 Big South All-Freshman team. Named to the Big South All-Tournament team in both 2015 and 2016, she was also a two-time Big South Player of the Week selection.

To date, Chiusano is the Big South career leader in runs scored (208). She also ranks second in the Big South record books in career stolen bases (145), sixth all-time in career hits (274), and seventh all-time in career walks (108). Her 48 stolen bases in 2014 rank fifth all-time in Big South single-season history.

Hayden was the 2012 co-Big South Freshman of the Year and picked up first-team All-Big South honors in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. A 2015 Big South All-Tournament team member, Hayden was a three-time Big South Player of the Week selection as well.

She still ranks third in the Big South in career home runs (61), fifth in career walks (116), sixth in career RBIs (189), and seventh in total bases (438). Her 168 fielding assists in 2012 ranks fifth in Big South single-season history, while her 162 assists in 2015 are eighth.

Noad was the 2016 Big South Player of the Year, a three-time Big South All-Conference first team selection, and a member of the 2013 Big South All-Freshman team. The utility player earned All-Big South honors in 2014 and 2015 as a designated player and picked up all-conference accolades as a catcher in 2016. Twice named to the Big South All-Tournament team in 2013 and 2014, she was also a two-time Big South Player of the Week honoree.

Finishing her career by etching her name throughout the Big South career record books, Noad still ranks as the Big South's career leader in home runs (75), RBIs (217), and total bases (472). She remains eighth in the conference in both career walks (103) and slugging percentage (.724). Her 23 home runs in 2016 rank fourth in the Big South's single-season record books, while her 22 home runs the year before in 2015 ranks sixth. She also ranks sixth in the conference's single-season record book in RBIs with 72 in 2016.

The quartet joins 18 other former student-athletes and Hall of Fame head coach Jess Dannelly as members of the Big South Softball All-Decade Teams.
