CONWAY, S.C. – Former Coastal Carolina University center Naheria Hamilton will start her professional basketball career overseas as she has signed with the Basketball SV Halle Lions in Germany, it was announced recently. 
 
Hamilton, who graduated this May with her degree in Sociology, was a 1,000-career point scorer in her four years at Coastal Carolina where she averaged 9.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game over 116 contests.
 
She saved her best season with the Chanticleers for last, as she averaged a double-double with 10.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per game her senior season. Named the 2019-20 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year, Hamilton became just the second Chanticleer to win a conference defensive player of the year award while also earning All-Sun Belt second team honors. Her 10.2 rebounds per game lead the league, while she was also the top defensive rebounder in the conference and ranked 15th nationally while grabbing 7.4 defensive boards per contest. She ranked second in the Sun Belt in rebounds with 297 overall and was twice named the Sun Belt Player of the Week, earning the weekly conference honor on Nov. 12, 2019, and March 2, 2020. On the year, Hamilton has scored in double digits 16 times.
 
The Goldsboro, N.C. native, is Coastal's all-time career blocks leader with 212 and became the 17th Chant to score 1,000 career points over her career at Coastal Carolina with her 1,070 career points. Hamilton, who led the team in blocks all four seasons and in rebounding the last three years of her career, is also tied for first in CCU's career record books in rebounding average at 8.1 rebounds per game and second in career rebounds with 942 boards.
 
In 2017-18, Hamilton posted just the second triple-double in Coastal Carolina women's basketball history with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 blocks in the Chants' win over Arkansas State in the first round of the 2019 Sun Belt Championship at the HTC Center.
