Dalla-Bona and Tranberg Post Singles Wins in Loss at No. 14 USC

Chanticleers’ Tranberg recorded her first career singles win as a Chant
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team fell on the road to the No. 14 nationally-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks 5-2 on a chilly and windy Saturday afternoon at the Carolina Tennis Center in Columbia, S.C.
South Carolina took a 1-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles matches and then earned the win by pulling out to a 4-0 lead with wins in singles play on courts No. 1, 4, and 6.
The Chants then scored the first of their two singles wins in a big way, as freshman Mathilde Tranberg picked up her first career singles win as a Chant over USC's Silvia Chinellato at 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 3 singles position.
The next match would also go in favor of the Chanticleers, as senior Somer Dalla-Bona defeated No. 93-nationally ranked Emma Shelton in three sets at 7-6, 0-6, 6-4 on court No. 2.
The Chanticleers (0-2) will host UNCW at the Stevens Tennis Complex in Conway, S.C. on Sunday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. ET.
