CLEMSON, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's indoor track & field team posted six top-10 finishes and recorded eight new personal best marks on day two of the Bob Pollock Invitational held at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex in Clemson, S.C.
With the field events kicking off the second day of the meet, sophomore
Kadasia Evans registered a ninth-place finish in the women's high jump with a height of 1.60 meters, while freshman
Kayla Ulmer matched Evans' finish with a ninth-place showing in the triple jump with a new personal-record mark of 11.64 meters.
Sophomore
Jaquoia Williams (5.25 meters) placed 17th in the women's long jump event, while
Nikki Boon finished 19th (5.18 meters) and
Mycal Bowser (5.08 meters) took 21st. The marks by both Boon and Bowser are new personal best.
Three Chants also competed in the women's shot put event on Saturday, as the freshmen trio of
India Wright (12.15 meters),
Alexis Estep (12.10 meters), and
Alexya Eberhardt (11.90 meters) placed 16th, 17th, and 20th overall, respectively. Eberhardt's distance was a new personal best.
In the 200 meter dash, the Coastal claimed three spots in the top-eight led by sophomore
Melissa Jefferson with a second-place finish with her personal-best time of 24.36. Her time also ranks fourth all-time in CCU history.
Right on the heels of Jefferson was teammate
Jermaisha Arnold who crossed the finish line in third with a personal-best time of 24.55, which is the seventh-best time in CCU history.
Also placing in the top-10 in the 200-meters was freshman
Kayla Sweeney with a personal-best time of 24.82 which sits just outside of the top-10 in CCU indoor history.
Arnold was joined by fellow freshmen
Lauren Gordon,
Amaryah White, and
Shani'a Bellamy in the 4x400-meter relay, as the freshmen unit placed fourth overall with a season-best time of 3:48.09, which ranks seventh all-time on Coastal's indoor track & field all-time performance list.
In the 800-meter run, Boon turned in a time of 2:29.59, a new personal record mark, while in the 3000-meter run classmate
Ashley Rulison crossed the finish line with a time of 10:41.46.
The Chanticleers will take next week off before returning to competition on Saturday, Feb. 13, at the USC Indoor Open held at the Carolina Indoor Track & Field Complex in Columbia, S.C.
