Men’s Golf Concludes Play at Isleworth Collegiate on Tuesday

WINDERMERE, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina men's golf team shot a final-round 300, +12, on Tuesday to finish 13th overall at the highly-touted Isleworth Collegiate hosted by UCF in Windermere, Fla.
Playing against a tournament field that included six nationally-ranked programs, the Chanticleers shot rounds of 300, 299, and 300 to finish 13th overall on the team leaderboard with a 54-hole team score of 899, +35.
Senior Connor Newton paced the Chants, shooting rounds of 72, 76, and 74 to finish in a tie for 33rd overall at 222, +6. The fourth-year Chant totaled 14 pars, one birdie, and three bogeys over his final round of play on Tuesday to finish the three-day event with a total of 37 pars, which was tied for the team0high, and six birdies.
Saving his best round for last was freshman Trey Crenshaw, as he carded a final-round 71, 1-under par, to finish in a tie for 39th overall with his 54-hole score of 223, +7. The first-year Chant, who shaved strokes off his scorecard each round of play, carding scores of 77, 75, and 71 over his three rounds of play, tallied three birdies and 13 pars on Tuesday.
Crenshaw led the tournament field in par-3 scoring average at 2.75, -3, and had a team-high seven birdies to go along with his 35 pars over his 54-holes of play.
Juniors Gavin Noble (227, +11) and Seth Taylor (228, +12) finished in a tie for 54th and 58th, respectively, while senior Tyler Gray (236, +20) placed in a tie for 71st overall for the tournament.
Noble turned in rounds of 75, 75, and 77 on his way to his 227, while Taylor registered scores of 76, 73, and 79 to finish one shot back of Noble at 228. Gray recorded rounds of 81, 77, and 78 to round out the CCU lineup with a score of 236.
No. 3/4 Arizona State won the event with a team score of 853, 11-under par, edging No. 17/26 Illinois by two strokes at 855, 9-under par. Nationally-ranked Auburn (No. 21/21) placed third overall at 862, 2-under par, while LSU (No. 23) placed fourth with a score of 869, +5.
The Chanticleers will wrap up their 2021 fall slate with the Saint Mary's Invitational held at the Poppy Hills Golf Club in Pebble Beach, Calif. Nov. 8-10.
