NEW ORLEANS – A pair of Coastal Carolina women's soccer players were honored for their play this season as the 2021 Sun Belt All-Conference Soccer Awards were announced on Thursday afternoon.
Senior
Mackenzie Cherry and junior
Megan Brouse were both named Second Team All-Conference.
The duet helped lead the Chanticleers to a 6-8-2 regular season mark and a 4-5-1 Sun Belt record.
Cherry, a pre-season All-Sun Belt selection after being named to the All-Sun Belt first team following the unconventional 2020-21 season. She appeared and started in every match for the Chanticleers this season, logging 1,512 minutes, one assist, nine shorts and four shots on goal.
Brouse, a native of Phoenix, Ariz, finished the season with a team-leading 31 points for the Chants and was ninth in the Sun Belt in overall goals (7) and lead the league in goals during conference matches (.636 average). She finished fourth in the Sun Belt for game-winning goals (3) and fifth in total points (15). She was also named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 19, following her first career hat trick on the road at Georgia Southern (Oct. 15).
The Chanticleers now prepare for the Sun Belt Championships Nov. 1-5 in Foley, Ala.
