CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team will step out of Southern Conference play to head to High Point, N.C., on Wednesday, March 17 to take on former conference foe High Point University for a late afternoon midweek matchup. The opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET inside Vert Stadium on the Panthers' campus.
Coastal currently is 5-1 on the season, after jumping out to the program's best start at 5-0 the Chants fell to the No. 25 Elon Phoenix in their last outing while HPU is 1-6 on the year. CCU and High Point have met four times prior with HPU holding a 3-1 advantage over the Chants. Coastal's lone win came in its third season of play in 2015.

The Chanticleers' offense is led by
Samantha Courtemanche (18 goals, 13 assists) with 31 points while transfer redshirt freshman
Kayla Downey (13 goals, 5 assists) follows with 18 points. True freshman
Monica Manley is third on the team in points with 16 on 10 goals and six assists. Manley gets the offensive attack going with 16 draw controls while
Avery Drouin,
Anya McSorley, and
Megan Busch each have 11 draw control wins apiece this season.
Defensively, the Chants are led by redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Claire Martell who has allowed 48 goals while facing 97 shots on goal. She has tallied 48 saves for a .511 save percentage and earned all five wins on the season.
Redshirt senior McSorley has caused 11 turnovers and scooped eight ground balls on the season. Fellow defender
Emily D'Orsaneo needs one caused turnover for a career milestone by causing her 59th turnover, tying former Chant
Maddy Ciardi for most in program history.
Courtemanche and Martell were named Southern Conference Offensive and Defensive February Players of the Month for their performances in their outings in February.
ABOUT HIGH POINT
The Panthers' offense is led by Abby Hormes, Ashley Britton, and Mena Loescher with 27, 21, and 16 points, respectively. Hormes has 21 goals and six assists as Britton sits with 20 goals and an assist while Loescher leads the High Point with 10 assists to go with her six goals.
Defensively, Sarah Zeto has given up 90 goals while facing 186 shots. The senior goalkeeper has made 47 saves with a .343 save percentage and recorded all decisions for the Panthers. Zeto has also caused six turnovers and snatched up 21 ground balls to lead the team.
Aiding on the defensive third, Megan Nerney and Abbie Karalis each have caused eight turnovers on the year, while Britton has scooped up 17 ground balls and Karalis has grabbed 15 ground balls.
