Women’s Tennis Sweeps Georgia State 4-0

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team swept the Georgia State Panthers 4-0 on Friday afternoon at the LifeTime Athletic Complex. The Chanticleers improved to 10-3 overall and 5-1 in the Sun Belt Conference while the Panthers fall to 2-13 and 0-6 in the SBC.
The Chanticleers picked up the doubles point as the duo of Victoire De Samucewicz and Kristyna Jurkova defeated the team of Nansi Toskova and Denisa Gheorghe 6-1 at the No. 2 position while the No. 1 team of Somer Dalla-Bona and Jessie Mount won 7-5 over the Panthers' Ellie Aldrich and Andreea Stanescu.
In singles play, Jurkova defeated Alexia Alvarez 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 3 position to stake the Chanticleers to a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Valentina Urelli, playing in the sixth spot, put Coastal up 3-0 with the 6-4, 6-1 victory over Maddy Frediani.
The Chants' No. 4 position closed out the match as De Samucewicz defeated Aldrich in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
The final matches went unfinished once Coastal Carolina earned the four points for the victory. At the No. 2 position, Mathilde Tranberg trailed Angel Carney 5-7, 1-4 at the time the match was decided.
Likewise, at No. 5, Jesse Hollins was leading in the third and final set 2-1, after splitting the first and the second set 1-6, 6-1 against Toskova, while Dalla-Bona was leading the second set 4-3 after dropping the opening set 6-2 against Andreea Stanescuat the No. 1 position.
Coastal Carolina will return to action on Saturday, March 27, as the Chanticleers will head to Georgia Southern. The first serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
