COLUMBIA, S.C. - On Saturday, the Coastal Carolina track and field team wrapped up the South Carolina Weems Baskin Invitational with 16 top-10 finishes.
Men
Freshmen Braydon Bennett and Jaquon Williams earned spots in Saturday's finals of the 110-meter hurdles out of 22 competitors.
Bennett placed second of the two collegiate sprinters in the race and fourth overall with a time of 14.10 (0.7). Williams rounded the finals in eighth place with a time of 14.65 (0.7).
From flight two of the triple jump, sophomore Dallas Wise earned fifth place with a distance of 15.12 meters.
Major Chestnut achieved his third top 10 of the discus throw this season on Saturday afternoon. The freshman threw 42.29 meters, good for ninth place.
Stephen Kirkwood earned his first top 10 finish of his career as the junior placed seventh overall in the shot put with a distance of 11.76 meters.
In the 400-meter dash, DeVonte Harris finished within the top 15 of the sprinters. The freshman earned 13th place on the day with a personal best time of 48.77.
Women
Of the 42 400-meter sprinters in Saturday's final, Coastal Carolina freshmen Jermaisha Arnold and Amaryah White took two of the top eight spots on Saturday afternoon.
Arnold finished in second place with a time of 53.30, and White followed in eighth place with a time of 55.03.
The duo of Kayla Ulmer and Mycal Bowser placed in back-to-back spots for a pair of top-five finishes in the triple jump.
Ulmer earned the top Coastal finish, fourth overall, with a jump of 11.60 meters. Bowser placed fifth with a personal best distance of 11.59 meters.
In the 4x100-relay race, freshmen Keniah Wallace, Kayla Sweeney, Arnold, and White finished in sixth place with a time of 46.14.
Wallace and White also earned top-15 performances in the 100-meter dash on the afternoon as the freshmen twosome finished 10th and 13th, respectively.
Wallace broke her personal-best mark with a time of 12.08 (1.6), and White earned a time of 12.37 (0.0).
Sweeney earned Coastal's top spot in the 200-meter dash on Saturday as the McDonough, Ga., native added a personal best of 24.54 (0.0), good for 12th place.
Shani'a Bellamy earned a spot in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles as she broke established a new personal. In qualifying, the Columbia, S.C., native was the eighth-fastest qualifier with a personal best at 13.98 (1.1). Later in the afternoon, the hurdler finished in eighth place in the finals with a time of 14.02 (0.7).
Bellamy and freshmen Lauren Gordon and Alyssa Smith picked up top-15 finishes in the 400-meter hurdles.
Bellamy was the top CCU finisher as the freshman finished in eighth place with a time of 1:03.50. Gordon added a new personal best at 1:05.81, good for 13th place, and Smith ended up in 14th place with a time of 1:07.44.
Ashley Rulison competed in her first career 1500-meter and 3000-meter races on the final day at the Cregger Track.
The sophomore would cross the finish line earned eighth place in the 3000 meters with a time of 11.21.81 and 12th place in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:06.27.
Throwers India Wright, Nikki Boon, and Anais Williams led the Chanticleers in the shot put as the trio earned new personal best throws honors on the day.
The freshman Wright threw a distance of 12.71 meters, good for fifth place. Boon also finished inside the top 10 as the Dronten, Netherlands native placed seventh with a throw of 11.93 meters. Williams rounded out the competition in 15th place with a throw of 8.31 meters.
In the discus, Boon was the lone Chanticleer thrower to finish inside the top 15. Boon would end the day with a personal best throw of 38.78 meters, good for 11th place.
Coastal Carolina will return to the track on Saturday, April 3 as its hosts the one-day Chanticleer Challenge on the teal Chanticleer Track.
