IT PAYS TO BE LUCKY
• Coastal Carolina junior Nick Lucky was named the Sun Belt Baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday, March 2.
• Lucky led the Chants to a 4-0 week last week, as the lead-off hitter hit .400 (8-for-20) with two home runs, one of which was a grand slam, five RBIs, and five runs scored. He also posted a .700 slugging percentage and a .429 on-base percentage over the four-game stretch.
• He did all this in a week in which he started at three different positions - designated hitter, left field, and right field.
• The third-year Chant scored a run in all four games for the Chants on the week and extended his hitting streak to seven-straight games, having hit safely in every game this season.

HOME SWEET HOME
• Coastal will enjoy #ThePalace for the first month of the season, as the Chanticleers are scheduled to play 15 of their first 16 games at home in Springs Brooks Stadium.
• After playing a road game at Wake Forest on Tuesday (Feb. 23), CCU's next 11 games will come at home.
• Last season, the Chants were 11-4 at home overall prior to the cancellation.
• In fact, CCU played just one road game last season, a loss at then-No. 7 NC State on March 4, 2020.
• Since the 2015 season, Coastal has recorded 20 wins or more at home each year, outside of last year's shortened season, and has tallied 137 wins at Springs Brooks Stadium counting this year.

TOURNEY TIME
• Each season, the Chanticleers host two or three tournaments at Springs Brooks Stadium to start the season.
• This weekend will be the second of two weekend tournaments this season for the Chants, as the Chants hosted the CCU Baseball Tournament last weekend, Feb. 26-28.
• The Chants welcome UConn back to the Grand Strand and Springs Brooks Stadium, as the Huskies have played at Coastal Carolina in two of the last three years, 2018 and 2019.
• While UConn is a familiar foe, the Baseball at the Beach event also includes both Davidson and Miami (Ohio). The Chants have not played Davidson since 1992, while CCU last faced Miami (Ohio) back in 1976.

TOURNAMENT WEEKEND WINNERS
• Coastal went a perfect 3-0 last weekend at the CCU Baseball Tournament, the first of two weekend home tournaments this season for the Chanticleers.
• On the 3-0 weekend, the Chants scored a total of 31 runs, an average of 10.3 runs per game in the tournament sweep of Bryant, then-No. 23 West Virginia, and Kennesaw State.

• Last season, Coastal started 10-5 over the first 15 games, which included a six-game winning streak.
• Two years ago in 2019, CCU started the season by winning seven-straight games and went 12-3 over its first 15 games.
• In 2018, the Chants went 3-0 to start the year and also went 11-4 over their first 15 games of the season.

CCU VERSUS RANKED FOES
• Five of the Chanticleers' seven games this season have come against nationally-ranked top-25 programs in then-No. 16 Duke (Feb. 20-21), then-No. 16 Wake Forest (Feb. 23), and then-No. 23 West Virginia (Feb. 27).
• Coastal is 5-2 this season versus teams ranked in the top-25, going 1-2 versus then-No. 16 Duke on Opening Weekend (Feb. 20-21), beating then-No. 16/24 Wake Forest 4-1 in 12 innings (Feb. 23) in Winston-Salem, N.C., and out slugging then-No. 23/27 West Virginia 10-5 (Feb. 27) last weekend at the CCU Baseball Tournament.

THE LAST FRONTIER
• Junior side-twirler Alaska Abney has staked his claim to the late innings this season for the Chanticleers.
• Abney has been the last guy out of the bullpen in all three of his appearances this season, entering the ninth inning and strikeout out two in the 8-7 walk-off win over Duke (Feb. 21), throwing the eighth and ninth innings in game two of the doubleheader versus the Blue Devils (Feb. 21), and earning the save with three strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning in the 13-11 win over Kennesaw State (Feb. 28).
• The third-year Chant is 1-0 with one save and a 0.00 ERA with seven strikeouts, one walk, three hits, and one unearned run allowed over 4.0 innings out of the bullpen this year.
