CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team will play its first of four Southern Conference contests on the road against Wofford, on March 5, before returning to the friendly confines of Brooks Stadium to host Davidson, on March 7.
The Chanticleers' 3-0 start to the season matches the best start in program history (2017).
CCU will seek to start conference play with a fourth consecutive win over a conference foe. Wofford has opened the 2021 season with back-to-back losses to open 0-2 while Davidson sits at 4-1 with their only loss to the nationally-ranked Duke Blue Devils.

Samantha Courtemanche leads a balanced offensive attack with 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points while transfer redshirt freshman
Kayla Downey has 12 points on 10 goals and two assists.
Hannah Close,
Avery Drouin, and
Megan Busch are key in the midfield by starting the offense with 11, nine, and eight draw controls on the year.
Defensively, sophomore
Claire Martell has allowed just 19 goals on 57 shots for a 6.33 goals allowed average while making 26 saves. The Verbank, N.Y. native, is aided by
Emily D'Orsaneo, who has scooped up 11 ground balls and caused seven turnovers, as well as
Anya McSorley who has caused eight turnovers and gathered five ground balls.
ABOUT WOFFORD
Olivia Abé leads the Terriers with nine points on two goals and seven assists while Shannon Wulff and Elisabeth Ralph lead the team in goals with four apiece. Wulff is second on the team with five points. Ralph gets the offense started at the midfield by winning seven draw controls.
On the defensive end, Kelsey Thompson has seen the bulk of the action in goal for Wofford. Thompson has allowed 30 goals on 69 shots while making 19 saves between the pipes. Tori Saylor, Emma Seif, and Hannah Wurzel aide in the defensive third having caused four, three, and three turnovers, respectively.
ABOUT DAVIDSON
The Wildcats have six players with double-digits points, as Sam Rippley leads the team with 19 points (16 goals, 3 assists), while Julianne Carey is second with eight goals and five assists for 13 points. Gianna New (10 goals, 2 assists) and Jane DiGregorio (7goals, 5 assists) have 12 points each and Erin Cooke (9 goals, 2 assists) and Grace Fahey (8 goals, 3 assists) have 11 points apiece. Carey and New start the offense in the midfield with 24 and 21 draw controls, respectively.
Amanda Monahan has tallied all four wins in goal for Davidson allowing 52 goals and making 45 saves while facing 134 shots. Monahan has scooped 20 ground balls. Natalie Junior aides on the defensive end by causing 12 turnovers and grabbing 11 ground balls. Noelle Cegielski has scooped 14 ground balls while causing five turnovers.
