CONWAY, S.C. – After anchoring one of the Atlantic Sun's (ASUN) top defenses all season, Coastal Carolina graduate goalkeeper
Charlotte Sadler was voted ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year, the league announced Monday. She is one of six Chanticleers to earn all-conference recognition this season.
Sadler was named First Team All-ASUN for the second time in three seasons, while senior
Grace Lord also earned first-team honors. Junior
Gabrielle Beaudet and sophomore
Alexandra Horn were selected to the second team, with
Charlotte Erb and
Rebekah Zentz earning ASUN All-Freshman Team accolades.
Sadler,
Megan Hummel,
Sophie Kingsborough,
Alyson Mascolo,
Ella Parker, and
Lily Wallace were named to the ASUN All-Academic Team.
Sadler is the first player in program history to be named ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year. She led the conference with a .476 save percentage and ranked second in goals-against average (8.68) while also posting the fourth-most saves per game (7.47). She enters this week's ASUN Championship with the second-lowest single-season goals-against average in program history.
Lord earned all-conference honors for the first time in her career. She leads the Chanticleers with 1.53 caused turnovers per game, ranking ninth in the conference. She totaled 26 caused turnovers and 40 ground balls in 17 regular-season games.
Beaudet—who was a second-team all-conference selection a year ago—tied for the team lead with 33 goals, ranking No. 11 in the ASUN. Over the last four games, she scored 14 goals, including a career-high six against Queens. Beaudet recorded four or more goals in a game four times and scored at least one goal in 13 games.
Horn, originally from Orlando, Fla., earned all-conference honors for the first time as a sophomore. She ranks third in the ASUN in assists (31), points (63), and shot percentage (.516), fourth in assists per game (1.82), and sixth in points per game (3.71). She is one goal behind Beaudet and Kingsborough for the team lead. Horn is one of eight players in program history to record 30 or more assists in a season.
Erb played in 10 games, tallying seven points on six goals while adding four ground balls. Zentz saw action in 15 games and made four starts as a defender, recording 12 ground balls, eight caused turnovers, and five draw controls. The duo becomes the 11th and 12th players in program history to earn ASUN All-Freshman Team honors.
Coastal Carolina opens the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship on Tuesday, April 28, against Lindenwood in Jacksonville, Fla. First draw is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
