Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team finished the regular season strong with a 6-1 win over The Citadel on Friday afternoon in Charleston, S.C.

Coastal opened the match scoring with back-to-back wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions to take the doubles point and an early 1-0 match lead.

The team of Pyry Hyrkkonen and Diego Giraldo defeated Bulldogs' duo of Will Graham and Hayden Shoemake 6-2 at the No. 1 doubles spot, while the tandem of Daiki Tanabe and Guilherme Toresan followed with a 6-3 victory over Zvonko Bencedic and Josiah Schainblatt at the No. 2 position.

The Chants would jump out to a 2-0 lead with a straight-set win at the No. 2 singles position when CCU's Giraldo won by scores of 6-0 and 6-3 over Hayden Shoemake.

Neil O'Connor picked up a 6-4, 6-3 straight-set win over Sebastian Kamieniecki at No. 6 to extend the Chants' lead to 3-0 in the match.

Gonzalo Achondo would seal the win for the Chants as the senior had a straight-set 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 against the Bulldogs Josiah Schainblatt.

CCU closed out the match with wins at flights No. 1 and No. 5 as Toresan overcame a first-set loss to defeat Lucas Robins 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 while Hyrkkonen ended the match with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 1 position.

The Chanticleers (8-8) will remain on the road and head to the Sun Belt Tournament next weekend on Friday April 23 in Peachtree, GA.
