Softball to Face ULM in 2021 SBC Tournament Opener

The Chants go in as the No. 8 seed while ULM is the No. 9 seed
NEW ORLEANS, LA. - On Saturday night, after the last out was recorded out in the final game of the 2021 season, the Sun Belt Conference released its 2021 Sun Belt Softball Championship tournament bracket with all 10 seeds set in place for next week's slate of games at the Troy Softball Complex in Troy, Ala.
On Tuesday, May 11,the Chanticleers will represent the conference as the No. 8 seed and will take on the No. 9 seed ULM Warhawks in the first round of the tournament, with the first pitch slated for 11 a.m. ET.
The two first-round games are single-elimination format with the winner advancing to the second round where they will compete in a double-elimination format. The winner between the Chanticleers and Warhawks will advance to face No. 1 seed Louisiana on Wednesday at 11 a.m. ET.
In early March, the two teams kicked off the conference season in Monroe, La., when ULM took the season series, 2-1.
Senior Kaitlin Beasley-Polko pitched in two of the three games. The righty totaled 13 innings, allowed nine hits, six runs, two earned, while striking out four batters.
In the lone Chanticleer victory, the Leonardtown, Md., native pitched seven innings and allowed just two hits. It was the sixth time in Beasley-Polko's career she had accomplished the feat.
Junior infielder Abbey Montoya led Coastal offensively as she batted .500 (4-for-8) in the series against the Warhawks with a home run and RBI.
Fellow junior Mackenzie Beyer added a .375 (3-for-8) batting average in the three-games set as she scored a run, knocked in a run while hitting her second of 11 home runs on the season.
