SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
  • Much like the Chanticleers this season, GSU fell to Texas 1-0 earlier this month (Sept. 19) before defeating App State 1-0 last Sunday.

  • The Panthers went 10-3-2 last year and earned the No. 2 seed from the East Division at the Sun Belt Championship. It was the third-winningest season in program history and the highest postseason seeding since 1999.

  • Jimena Cabrero, Kamree Holloway, and Jolie Ryff were each named to the preseason squad after all three were All-Sun Belt honorees following the 2020 season. Cabrero scored two goals with two assists last season while leading the team in shots and shots on goal. Holloway anchored the GSU defense which allowed the second-fewest goals in the Sun Belt. Ryff scored three goals, the second-most on the team, in 2020.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
  • Jaidy Gutierrez Campos was named the Sun Belt Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week following her two shutouts in two starts over the weekend, helping lead South Alabama to conference victories against Texas State and Louisiana. Gutierrez Campos played all 90 minutes in each game and totaled five saves on the weekend.

  • Gracie Wilson and Morgan Cross were named to the preseason all-conference team Monday as announced by the league office. Additionally, the Jaguars were picked by the league coaches to win the Sun Belt receiving eight of 11 first-place votes.

  • The Jaguars marked their first NCAA postseason win under head coach Richard Moodie when they defeated Colorado 1-0 on April 27, 2021. Notably, The Jags were ranked No. 2 nationally for total goals scored last season.
