CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team (3-3-4, 0-0-3 Sun Belt) returns to the pitch when the Chanticleers host in-state rival South Carolina on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET.
 
COASTAL VS. SOUTH CAROLINA
Friday night's match will mark the 15th all-time meeting between the Chanticleers and Gamecocks dating back to 1978. CCU holds a 10-3-1 lead in the series and is 3-0-1 in games played in Conway, S.C.
 
The last time CCU and South Carolina met on the pitch was last season in Columbia, S.C., a 4-1 victory by the Chanticleers.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Coastal Carolina went on the road and picked up a 2-2 stalemate at Georgia State. The Chants scored the first two goals of the match before the Panthers scored the final two in recording the draw.
 
CCU scored first in the 18th minute when Emile Rzepecki picked up a double assist from Mael Couteau and Eythor Kjartansson for the opening goal. CCU added to the lead when Alvaro Garcia-Pascual picked up the second CCU goal on Kjartansson's second assist of the match in the 25th minute, but that would be all of the scoring from the Chants.
 
The Panthers scored in the 30th minute on a Simon Carlson goal and added the equalizer in the 48th minute on a goal from Evan Schroeder.
 
CHANT TALK
Garcia-Pascual now has 14 points on the season to lead the Chants and is second in the Sun Belt Conference. 
 
SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
South Carolina enters the game with a 5-4-2 overall record and is 1-1-1 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Gamecocks lost to No. 6 Marshall 3-1 in their last outing.
 
Adam Luckhurst is the leading scorer for the Gamecocks with nine points on three goals and three assists. Harrison Myring and John Eskay have scored five points each with three other players scoring four points.
