CONWAY, S.C. -- The Coastal Carolina University men's soccer team is among the programs receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, which was announced on Wednesday.
The Chanticleers are 4-3-6 on the season. Last week, head coach
Shaun Docking's squad went on the road and played No. 2 nationally-ranked Kentucky to a scoreless draw on Oct. 19. The Chants then came home and defeated Old Dominion 2-1 on Oct. 23.
Coastal Carolina is one of three Sun Belt Conference member schools to be recognized in the latest poll, as Kentucky came in at No. 2 and Marshall at No. 6.
The Chanticleers have also moved up to No. 37 in the latest NCAA Men's Soccer RPI poll. Over the course of the season, the Chants have played six teams that are currently ranked or were ranked when the Chants met them on the pitch. Those teams are No. 2 Kentucky, No. 6 Marshall, No. 22 Charlotte, No. 11 UNC Greensboro, West Virginia (No. 21), and Campbell (RV).
CCU is also ranked as having the seventh toughest schedule in the nation as reported by the NCAA Statistics National Rankings.
The Chanticleers return to the pitch to face James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va., Friday at 7 p.m. ET at Sentra Park.
