CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team will hit the road to face Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va., on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at the ODU Soccer Complex.
COASTAL VS. OLD DOMINION
While it's the first time the Chants and ODU have met as members of the Sun Belt Conference, it's not the first time the two programs have met on the pitch. It will be the third meeting with each program earning one win overall.
LAST TIME OUT
CCU picked up its first conference win of the season with a 4-1 home victory over Southern Miss on Thursday night.
Julia Ziegenfuss picked up a hat-trick with three second-half goals. It was the freshman's first hat-trick of her collegiate career.
Megan Brouse chipped in with a goal and two assists as all the scoring came in the second half.
In goal,
Hope Morrow had a sensational match. She recorded a career-high seven saves, with one of those saves coming on a penalty kick in the first half.
Southern Miss scored a goal with two minutes left in the match to avoid the shutout.
The win gave the Chants an important three points in the conference standings and pushed CCU's record to 2-7-3 overall and 1-3-1 in conference action.
CHANT TALK
- Ziegenfuss now has five goals on the season and recorded the first Chanticleer hat-trick since Megan Brouse's hat-trick Oct. 15, 2021 at Georgia Southern. She also has two assists on the season giving her 12 total points.
- With Brouse adding her eighth goal and her first two assists of the season in the win last time out, she now has a team-best 18 points on the season. It was her 20th career goal and ties her for sixth all-time in CCU history with Kristina Fisher (2002-05).
- In six matches, Hope Morrow now has 21 saves on the season and has a .700 saves percentage.
SCOUTING OLD DOMINION
- Old Dominion picked up a 1-0 road win at Troy in ODU's last outing. Miya Lennon scored the lone goal of the match in the first half and ODU's defense made that goal stand up.
- The win pushed ODU to a 4-6-2 overall record and 2-2-1 in conference action.
- ODU has a balanced scoring attack with Megan Watts leading the team in scoring with five points on two goals and one assist. The Monarchs have two players with four points and another five players with two points.
