GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team carried over the momentum from a 15-3 Saturday to go 9-2 overall on day two of the UNCG Spartan Fall Invitational on Sunday in Greensboro, N.C.
 
For the weekend, the Chants went 24-5 overall while competing against UNCG, Elon, and N.C. Central.
 
In doubles play, the Chants played two matches versus the Elon Phoenix with both bouts going to a tiebreaker. CCU's duo of Maj Tomac and Lucas Wayenburg won 7-6 (3) on court No. 2, while the team of Steve Mundt and Carlos Berna Ruiz fell 7-6 (10) on a tiebreaker in the other doubles contest.
 
The Chants would cap the weekend of doubles action with a 4-0 sweep of host UNCG, picking up dominating wins in each of the four bouts.
 
The Mundt and Berna Ruiz tandem returned to their winning ways at the top flight, earning a 6-2 win, while the team of Tomac and Ryuya Ata matched their teammates with a 6-2 victory on court No. 2.
 
Completing the sweep were Guilherme Toresan and Neil O'Connor taking a 6-2 win on court No. 3, while Wayenburg and Rivers Cahill were victorious on court No. 4 by a score of 6-1.
 
In singles play, the Chants went 4-1versus the Eagles, earning straight-set wins in the top four flights.
 
Wayenburg won 6-2, 6-4 on court No. 1, while Berna Ruiz held on for a 7-5, 6-3 straight-set win on court No. 2. Ata cruised to a 6-4, 6-3 win on court No. 3, while Toresan easily won by a score of 6-1, 6-2 on court No. 4.
 
The Chants will return home to host S.C. State in the Chants vs. Bulldogs Scramble on Friday, Oct. 14, at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
