CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball pair of
Irena Drobnjak and
Ellie Hanford will compete in the inaugural AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championships to be held in Huntsville, Ala., on Nov. 4-6.
"We are so excited to have two terrific players heading to Huntsville to represent our program at the first-ever AVCA Pairs Championship," said head coach
Steve Loeswick. "Irena and Ellie are excited to compete against the best pairs from across the country. I have no doubt they are going to play well and show the country what the Chanticleers are capable of on a national stage."
The women's competition will showcase the top players from NCAA Division I and Division II schools across the United States, including pairs from each of the 16 teams that made the 2022 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship.
In total, key performers from 44 college beach volleyball programs will take part in a three-day fall tournament, which consists of traditional pool play on Friday, Nov. 4, followed by bracket play on Saturday and Sunday. The format ensures that all pairs will play each of the three days.
Last spring, the duo went 9-2 overall at the No. 2 flight, which included posting wins over nationally-ranked South Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia State, and FIU.
