Two Chants pick up All-Sun Belt Honors

Garcia-Pascual and Dearle named All-Sun Belt

NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina men's soccer student-athletes Alvaro Garcia-Pascual and Peter Dearle have been named to the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Men's Soccer All-Sun Belt Team, as announced by the league office Friday afternoon.

Garcia-Pascual was named first team All-Sun Belt after finishing the regular season as one of the top scorers in the conference. The sophomore is tied for second in the conference with 22 overall points. His 10 goals are tops in the conference as are his points per game (1.47) and goals per game (0.67) averages.

Dearle, a defender, has been named to the second team. The redshirt senior has been a solid defender along the back line of defense for the Chanticleers this season. He has played in 13 of the team's matches with 12 starts. He has helped lead the CCU defense to three shutouts this season, including a shutout at No. 2 nationally-ranked Kentucky earlier in the season.

Garcia-Pascual and Dearle will lead the Chants into the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Men's Soccer Championship on Sunday, Nov. 6, when they face West Virginia in the quarterfinals round at 3 p.m. ET. The match will be hosted by top-seeded Kentucky at the Bell Soccer Complex in Lexington, Ky.
