CONWAY, S.C. – On Friday afternoon, the Coastal Carolina men's tennis team collided with the UNC Greensboro Spartans in a regional showdown at the Stevens Tennis Complex.  The Chanticleers jumped out to an early lead and didn't look back on the way to a 6-1 victory.
 
During doubles play, the Chants took the lead on the strength of two wins.  Steve Mundt and Carlos Berna Ruiz powered past Hugh Knapp and Christopher Johns 6-1, while Federico Garnier and Diego Giraldo defeated Nico Grewe and Alex Zuckerman 6-2.
 
In singles action, Bastien Huon defeated Grewe 6-3, 6-2 in the top flight.  Guilherme Toresan tallied a 6-1, 6-4 straight-set win over Michael Gwynn, which staked the Chants to a 3-0 lead. 
 
The winning point was secured on the second court, as Garnier rallied from a tough opening frame to take down Zuckerman 0-6, 6-2, 6-4.  Niccolo Rossi earned a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 win over Roger Rogowski in the fourth flight, while Daiki Tanabe also picked up a very hard-fought 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 triumph over Knapp.
 
The Chanticleers improve to 4-2 overall and will host Sun Belt foe Georgia Southern on Sunday, Feb. 13 at noon ET.
